Katherine Cable
An employee of SOU since 2016, Katherine Cable is a Registration Systems Analyst, supporting the registrar’s office at Southern Oregon University. Prior to this role, Katherine served SOU as the Academic Records Coordinator.
Born in Aurora, Colorado, Katherine Cable has always lived by the philosophy that experience is the meaning of life. Her journey to Southern Oregon University consists of a long and winding road, but she brings with her a great breadth of experience. Katherine has been a lifeguard, taxi driver, fugitive investigator, fingerprint identification specialist, Arabic Linguist, US Marine, security guard, emergency medical technician, emergency room technician, and network services engineer.
In addition to this breadth of work experience, she also has a great deal of volunteer experience. Most recently she served as the Vice President for Technology and Communication for the Oregon Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and on the Diversity Development Committee for the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. Outside of Higher Education, she also has worked with the LGBTQ+ Listening Project at the Rogue Action Center as the Data and Research Team lead. Katherine has saved lives with Jackson County Search and Rescue, coordinated incident response with the Oregon State Defense Force, helped veterans of all stripes with the American Legion and sat by the bedside of the dying with Providence Hospital’s No One Dies Alone program.
She holds a B.A. in Emerging Media and Digital Art from SOU and currently is completing a second B.A. in English.
Above all, Katherine believes that radical kindness, acceptance and inclusion are the way to our future, and she tries to embody these beliefs in the way that she works and lives.
