Mimi Pieper
An accomplished software engineer and researcher with a deep connection to nature and a passion for sustainability, Mimi is making contributions in both her professional and personal spheres. Born in Mount Shasta, California, she grew up farming, gardening, baking, and creating, which instilled in her a lifelong love for tending to her garden, nurturing houseplants, and immersing herself in a wide range of books.
Professionally, during her tenure as a Data Analyst Intern at the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network, Mimi enhanced departmental analysis efficiency by 38% through the integration of the ChatGPT API. Her role involves data analysis to provide actionable insights to businesses across the state and educate others in AI applications.
As the Student Sustainability Coordinator at Southern Oregon University, she led the overhaul of the university’s sustainability website and implemented the Energy STAR Portfolio Manager, achieving substantial annual energy savings and demonstrating her commitment to environmental sustainability. In her other on-campus employment position as a Senior Computer Science and Math Tutor, Mimi significantly aided students, with her guidance resulting in their scores improving by 30% above the baseline.
At Xtramath, Mimi excelled as a Software Engineer Intern. She played a crucial role in integrating AWS Glue with Redshift for ETL operations, impacting over 7.5 million users. Her efforts in designing and implementing database tables in AWS Redshift underscored her technical expertise and impact on large-scale data operations.
Mimi’s research endeavors are noteworthy. Collaborating with BD Biosciences, she developed an AI model using Scikit-Learn, Numpy, and Pandas to identify cell life stages. This work involved building complex matrices and employing unsupervised learning techniques like Gaussian Mixture Modeling, DBSCAN, and Spectral Clustering, showcasing her advanced technical skills and innovative approach.
